Certification Unit

Under the quality policy applied by the Management of OB-RPPD, the Centre aims to adjust its offer to the requirements of the customers and to achieve a leading position in the field of product quality assessment. As a result in 2009 a Certification Unit was established within the structures of the Centre. The function of the Certification Unit of the Research and Development Centre of Wood-Based Panel Industry Ltd. is to conduct impartial certification processes for wood-based panels and wood materials coherent with the Centre’s policy and management system as well as the existing regulations relating to product conformity assessment. The Certification Unit is financed from incomes generated by applicants for and holders of the supervised certificates. The body does not receive any external financial support.

The Certification Unit of OB-RPPD is accredited by the Polish Centre for Accreditation (AC 156). Certification of products is based on the PN-EN ISO/IEC 17065:2013-3 standard "Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services" and meets the detailed requirements of the Polish Accreditation Centre.

Our Certification Unit may issue certificates of conformity with the requirements of national, European and international standards as well as other normative documents. The certificate may cover all the characteristics of the product which are defined in the standards and regulations or may be limited to one or more selected characteristics. The Certification Unit performs accredited certification of wood-based panels according to the 3 type of product certification scheme of the PN-EN ISO/IEC 17067:2014-1 standard. The program contains basic information on evaluation procedures, rules of granting, maintaining, extending or limiting the certification scope, but also on suspending, withdrawing or refusing certification as well as the information on procedures for handling complaints and appeals. The description of rights and obligations includes a model contract made available to the applicants. Detailed information, including the list of issued certificates and the certification financing procedure, together with the price list of certification processes, are granted on request.

    1. CARB (California- Air Resources Board ) included in California Code of Regulations: - Final Regulation Order sections 93120 – 93120.12, title 17: „Airborne Toxic Control Measure to Reduce Formaldehyde Emission from Composite Wood Products” (ATCM),
    2. IKEA included in IKEA specification no IOS-MAT-0003,
    3. EPA (United States Environmental Protection Agency) included in US EPA TSCA Title VI – Final rule 40 CFR PART 770 “Formaldehyde Emission Standards for Composite Wood Products”.
